How would you like to see the outcome of your cosmetic dentistry treatment before you commit to a procedure?
With our digital treatment planning software, we can do precisely that. Many patients walk into our San Diego office ambivalent about committing to cosmetic treatments, because they aren’t sure they’re going to like the outcome. In many cases, patients have saved up over a period of time to be able to afford their treatments and are hesitant to commit to a procedure, sight unseen. With cosmetic imaging we take the guesswork out of cosmetic dentistry, so you can see exactly what you will be investing in.
Visit Dr. David Eshom for a free cosmetic consultation and we’ll show you all the possibilities with cosmetic dentistry treatments. Rather than just look at the results that other people have experienced, you will see what treatments like bonding, BioClear, porcelain veneers, and cosmetic whitening will look like on your smile.
Cosmetic Imaging Improves the Process for Patient and Doctor
Sometimes there can be a disconnect between the patient and the doctor when we discuss your aesthetic goals for cosmetic treatment. After all, patients and doctors use different vocabulary when talking about the teeth, and a word like “line” may have different meanings for each party, for example. With a subject as emotionally charged as one’s appearance—we want to make sure we understand you perfectly, so we can provide you with the most conservative treatment to meet your goals. We understand, for example, that different patients will have different concepts of the ideal tooth shape and the level of whiteness they desire for their teeth. Some patients absolutely love the things that make their smile stand out from a crowd, while others want perfection.
Digital treatment planning is the best way to make sure you are on the same page as Dr. Eshom when planning for cosmetic enhancements. Using our cosmetic imaging tools, you can use the digital images on the screen to point out the features you wish to change, and he will show you what each treatment can realistically accomplish for your smile.
How It Works
When you visit Dr. Eshom’s San Diego office for a cosmetic consultation, we will use a digital or intraoral camera to take a picture of your smile and scan the surfaces of your mouth. Several images of your smile and teeth will be visible on the computer screen, and you can use these visual aids to point out the flaws you wish to correct. As Dr. Eshom discusses possible treatments, he will alter an image to reflect the changes that are possible with each treatment. If you don’t like what you see, tell him, and he’ll go back to square one and try a different approach or treatment. During your session, Dr. Eshom will try to understand what you hope to accomplish with cosmetic dentistry, and will work with you to create the smile you’ve always wanted.
Cosmetic Imaging for Porcelain Veneers and Bonding
With treatments like porcelain veneers and bonding, there are several visible features that can be altered. These treatments can change the size, shape, angle, color and translucency of the teeth. Some patients prefer a more uniformly squared edge to the teeth, while others prefer some natural variety in tooth shape. If you are only having two teeth treated, for example, you will want to see the projected shape of the treated teeth, so you can see the overall effect in your smile. In some cases, patients wish to undergo whitening treatments before they have two of their teeth bonded, to make sure there is harmony among the old teeth and the new. Additionally, with porcelain veneers there is some variety in how closely the teeth will meet up with one another after the treatment. With treatments that can give you a totally new appearance to one or more teeth, it’s especially important that you see all the possible configurations, so you know you’ll be happy with what Dr. Eshom plans for the treatment. All the variables will be explored, to make sure you get the results you desire.
