No Shots, No Drilling, No Numbness
San Diego cosmetic dentist, Dr. Eshom uses four different types of dental lasers in his office in order to make his patients’ visits enjoyable and worry free. As an efficient modern tool, lasers allow us to perform many procedures without anesthetic shots and without a dentist’s drill. In our modern dental office, we benefit from laser dentistry for teeth whitening, when detecting and treating cavities, and for gum treatments.
If you’d prefer restorative treatments that don’t involve noisy drills and anesthetic shots, contact the office of David Eshom, DDS. Call our San Diego dental practice today at 858-201-4475 for an appointment with this skilled general and cosmetic dentist.
About Dental Lasers
As you probably already know, lasers are focused beams of light, which have in recent years become incredibly useful medical and dental professions. At differing frequencies, lasers can either illuminate, provide gentle friction, remove decay and bacteria, or cut soft and hard tissues. As an incredibly precise tool, lasers are more efficient than traditional dental and medical tools, because they provide a much smaller tool for cutting, reducing bacteria, and applying friction. When used in place of a scalpel, lasers cause less bleeding and reduce healing time.
Lasers have been evaluated by the American Dental Association (ADA) to have several safe applications for use in modern dentistry. For more information read the ADA Council of Scientific Affairs’ Statement on Lasers in Dentistry.
DIAGNOdent Laser Treatment
With our high-tech, state-of-the-art DIAGNOdent laser, we can find tooth decay earlier than ever before. Research suggests that this painless laser device detects early tooth decay that a traditional examination misses as much as 76 percent of the time. Early detection via laser means easier and less costly treatment. When we find soft spots with this technique, fluoride treatments can be used to remineralize enamel. This type of preventive treatment is always preferable to getting a dental filling after the soft spot becomes a cavity. San Diego cosmetic dentist, Dr. Eshom is a DIAGNOdent laser expert.
Waterlase MD Laser Treatment
With our Waterlase MD laser technique, we can treat a cavity without the need for drilling. For small to medium sized cavities, particularly when discovered early, this technique is very effective. Even better, the technique does not require an injection with a needle. We can wipe away cavities with laser precision–all you hear is a tapping sound while the laser works. You will not leave with the annoyance of a fat lip and numb tongue. Once the cavity is removed, we place a virtually invisible filling to restore your tooth’s original natural strength and beauty. With Waterlase based cavity treatment, it’s often difficult for even a dentist to notice the presence of a filling. San Diego cosmetic dentist, Dr. Eshom is a Waterlase MD laser expert.
LaserSmile Laser Treatment
The LaserSmile is specifically formulated to increase the efficiency of your teeth whitening results. This form of laser dentistry is particularly beneficial to patients because of its shorter treatment time, which lets you avoid the excess heat and sensitivity common to other teeth whitening devices. San Diego cosmetic dentist, Dr. Eshom always promotes patient comfort, safety, and self-confidence.
DioLase Plus Laser Treatment
Our DioLase Plus laser is used for treating the soft tissue areas of patient gum lines. This tool offers an effective technique for eliminating bacteria, giving you a deep clean without the discomfort of metal tools scraping against your gums. Our patients are offered DioLase treatment for their regular teeth cleaning appointments to help fight the bacterial build-up that leads to gum disease. San Diego cosmetic dentist, Dr. Eshom is a DioLase Plus laser expert.
