Straightening your teeth used to mean suffering through two years or more with a mouthful of uncomfortable metal brackets and wires. Those days are in the past now, though. If you are ready to get those teeth straightened and shine in next year’s holiday photos, it’s time to consider the revolutionary new Invisalign treatment offered by San Diego cosmetic dentist Dr. David Eshom. Schedule your personal Invisalign consultation with Dr. Eshom today by calling (858) 352-7576.

A Quicker Path to Straight Teeth

You no longer have to wait two years or longer to have straight teeth and a fabulous smile. With Invisalign, you will wear 18-30 sets of clear aligners for about two weeks each, resulting in a straighter smile in just nine to fifteen months. The aligners gently guide teeth into the ideal position, eliminating the need for painful wires, brackets, bands, and monthly tightening adjustments. The aligners are virtually invisible in your mouth, so you will maintain a professional, mature appearance throughout treatment. The only people who will know you are wearing the aligners are you and Dr. Eshom. You can even remove the aligners for eating and cleaning your teeth.

What Invisalign Treats

Invisalign clear aligners are the perfect solution for adults who wore metal bracket and wire braces as kids, but whose teeth have moved back out of alignment over the years. Invisalign resolves these common dental issues, as well:

  • Crowded teeth
  • Crooked teeth
  • Overbites and underbites
  • Protruding teeth
  • Wide gaps between teeth
  • Moderate to severe cases of malocclusion

What to Expect

Your initial consultation with Dr. Eshom will consist of a thorough dental exam and a review of your medical and dental history. The doctor is very straightforward and will gladly address any questions or concerns you have about the treatment. When the two of you are in agreement, a second appointment will be scheduled to begin the treatment.

The second appointment is where the action starts. Dr. Eshom will take digital images of your mouth and feed them into the Invisalign software. The software will use the images to create a customized treatment plan tailored specifically to your needs. The plan will include the number of aligner sets you will need to wear, and how long the treatment will last. The two of you will go over this plan, then the doctor will forward it to an Invisalign lab, where your entire set of aligners will be fabricated.

When your aligners arrive at our office, you will come back for another visit. The doctor will give you your first few sets of aligners, as well as instructions for their use and care. When your treatment is complete, the doctor will provide a retainer for you to wear to keep your teeth in alignment.

Using Invisalign

Once you receive your first set of aligners, you will only need to return to the office every six weeks for a quick checkup and to pick up your next few sets. Each set of aligners should be worn for two weeks and will gradually move teeth each week. Invisalign clear aligners should be worn at least 20-22 hours each day to remain in compliance with your treatment plan, and they should only be removed for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing.

Benefits of Invisalign Treatment

  • With Invisalign aligners, you can eat anything you want. Since the aligners are removable, there are no food restrictions.
  • With removable aligners, you are able to brush and floss normally, which helps prevent tooth decay and periodontal disease.
  • Invisible aligners make it possible to straighten your teeth while maintaining a professional, adult appearance.
  • Invisalign is typically covered to the same extent as traditional braces by most dental insurances.
